Overview
When used correctly, the Internet is a safe place to work and learn. Not following Internet safety rules can have serious consequences. Citizenship is important no matter where you are.
What does it mean to be a good citizen at school, at home, and on the Internet?
• How does following rules keep you safe at school, at home, and on the Internet?
• How can you keep your identity private on the Internet so no one knows whom you are?
• Why is it important to have adult assistance when working on the Internet?
Anticipated Learning Outcomes Students will know…
Cyber Community Citizenship:
• Cyberspace is a community with places to visit just like in the real community.
• A community has rules to help keep its citizens safe.
• A good citizen is one knows and follows the rules of a community.
Online Personal Safety:
• Elementary students need adult assistance when using the Internet.
• The importance of rules and laws.
• Forms of cyber communication.
Cyber-Security:
• A virus is a computer program.
• Computer virus protection techniques.
Intellectual Property: Students will be able to…
• Explain Internet safety rules.
• Interpret what positive cyberspace citizenship is.
• Have the self-knowledge to know when to seek adult assistance when using the Internet.
• Practice Netiquette.
• Have the ability to correctly cite online sources.

By joining MY234Book, students agree to keep the site safe and free of any inappropriate content. This is a "Bully-Free" zone. Each student will design their own page and interact with the school’s digital community.
They will understand the consequences of posting inappropriate photos of themselves and others.
Students will collaborate in cooperative learning groups to create PSAs on Digital Citizenship. They will be posted on www.teachertube.com and embedded on www.my234book.com.
Project Activities
To be invited onto my234book.com, students willl complete the course CHECKLIST to be eligible.
You saw lots of examples of digital bullying in the video. Has anything similar happened to you or your friends and classmates? Compare situations with others in your class.

Hand in Parent Consent Form/contract.
Once they are on:
Students will joinMy234book.com, create their own page, join a group, and communicate with others on the site.
They will collaborate to create a PSA podcasts/movie on 7 WAYS TO BLOCK A CYBERBULLY to be posted on www.my234book.com
Agree to follow the rules of the site, understanding there is a "no tolerance policy" if the rules are broken.
Collaborations
The PSAs will be posted on Teachertube.com and students will blog, reflect and comment on each other’s work.
Assessment
The following rubric may be used as a checklist for the PSA.
Project Outline: (10 pts. poss.)
Describe the problem. Show your statistics and research, surveys, experiments, etc.
Blog Response: (20 pts. poss.)
Podcast: (20 pts. poss.)
Photos: (20 pts. poss.)
Storyboard: (10 pts. poss.)
Persuasive (10 pts. poss.)
Add Music- should last between 2-5 minutes(10 pts. poss.)
Total Possible Pts.: 100
Conclusion / Reflection
The goal of this project is so that the student will be able to make the right choices when they are not being “supervised”. Once the student graduates from Cunningham, they will be banned from using my234book.com. The will most likely use a social network like Myspace or Facebook. By modeling proper digital citizenship, students will be sure to THINK, before they CLICK while on their own.
